Getting To Know 3-D
Today we’ve decided to take some time and answer a lot of recent and frequent questions clients and homeowners ask us, in hopes that more and more in the industry will hear about us, and understand the full scope of what we can offer.
“You guys only have a couple crews?”
This is one phrase that we hear sometimes and are always happy to respond by saying, we have multiple crews throughout Western Canada that are ready and can take on projects and jobs based on the availability at the time of our crews.
Over the last couple of years we have been expanding throughout Western Canada to ensure that our clients always have 3-D’s services available to them when they need it. We frequent the Provinces of NWT, Alberta, Saskatchewan, B.C. and Manitoba often and our crews never know where they will end up but are more than happy to see the many different parts of our beautiful Country.
Needless to say our customers/clients can be confident when we say we have crews available. They can expect our Crews to arrive ready to work and excited to be there for them. We have grown as a company in the last 5 years and have confidently maintained our Quality and Excellence we have been known for over the last 22 years.
“Where do you have offices/field offices?”
3-D’s Head office is located in Nisku, Alberta although we have several areas throughout Central/Northern Alberta that we are able to service as a base from; such as: Grand Prairie, Whitecourt, Airdrie, Red Deer and Drumheller.
We have our Kamloops Office which is located in the heart of Downtown. From Kamloops we service everything from this office across BC to the Alberta border
When called to Saskatchewan and Manitoba we work on a demobilization/mobilization plan with our client that addresses their budgetary requirements and we work with them to meet commercial terms for the work that will fit in line with their scope of work.
“Do you have a COR? ISNetworld? Complyworks? Are you Pre-Qualified?”
3-D has maintained a COR accreditation since 2001. We would not be able to continue in our Industry today without one. It is what maintains and molds our Health & Safety Program year after year. 3-D is also an ISNetworld Subscriber, Complyworks Subscriber and holds many memberships within our Industry sector throughout the Provinces. We know how complex each Province is and the need to stay ahead of the ever changing Industry news, guidelines and requirements.
We have also completed our Quality & Procedural Manual in compliance with ISO 9001 Standard. This alone has been a large contributor for our growth capabilities and maintains compliance for more and more of our client’s requirements.

“Are your locators certified?”
YES. Our Locate Technicians are certified. Although, Line Locating does not currently have an industry recognized designation, there are many hours of on-the-job training, classroom courses, and internal competency and training programs that 3-D runs all of our Locate Technicians through.
3-D uses various certified training providers. Many of our Locate Technicians carry one or multiple locating courses such as: Global Training Centre Ground Disturbance for Supervisors ll, Enform Buried Facilities Locator Training, and Locate Management’s Line Locating courses.
As there is no current trade designation process, 3-D Line Locating (2011) Ltd recognizes and utilizes several locating courses that are available for providing adequate training for our Teams’ locating skills. This formal training in conjunction with 3-D’s in-house training, quality audits and mentoring process ensures our personnel are trained to the highest standards in the industry.
3-D Line Locating (2011) Ltd.’s Locate Technicians must exhibit knowledge, understanding, and competence of several key elements pertaining to the locating industry. These competencies are recognized by many locating contractors as standard. Higher levels of each competency improve as experience grows.
We pride ourselves in the exceptional Locating Technicians that we have trained and the confidence they maintain on any job they are sent onto for our clients and customers. At 3-D we like each Locate Technician to be multi-faceted in all areas of the industry that we service. This creates ease for us to know that we can send out any crew to any job type and know they will complete their locates with ease and client satisfaction each time.

“Do you provide digital maps of your locates?”
Yes we provide digital maps that are completed on-site and delivered to our clients based on their requirements. Our Locate Technicians are trained in our TurboCad Program which allows them to follow our company’s guidelines to create a consistent, high-quality digital drawing that shows clear and legible locate results every time.

“Are your rates all-inclusive or hourly? What is included in your pricing?”
Depending on the project requirements 3-D can customize a rate schedule that works best for a number of variables. If the scope of work requires an all-inclusive price 3-D can provide this or if it requires items to be separated out 3-D can break-out individual costs and supply it based on an hourly rate.
It all comes down to the clients requirements and what will work best for them regarding tracking costs, minimizing administrative costs and allowing them to see what they are receiving from 3-D for the costs being charged.
3-D can include everything in our pricing to accommodate the job needs whether it’d be maps & computers, Lath, UTV’s and another specialized equipment that may be required to complete our client’s job.
From simple jobs to complex locating 3-D can provide specialized pricing for either and can accommodate smaller jobs from 1-3 hours in length as well as larger projects lasting over a number of months consecutively.
3-D has the experience managing small to large scale projects and our systems are designed to manage both efficiently.
